Overview of Elizabeth

Leo Ryan Pinder was born in Nassau, Bahamas on September 13, 1974 to Mr. L. Marvin B. Pinder and Nancy S. Pinder. Ryan’s father, Marvin Pinder, is a former Progressive Liberal Party Member of Parliament for the Malcolm Creek and St. Johns' constituencies (1987-1993) and a former member of Sir Lynden Pindling's Cabinet as the Minister of Local Government and Family Island Affairs. Ryan has two siblings, Holly Pinder Peel, a Barrister at law and married to Christopher Peel, and Benjamin Pinder, a Certified Public Accountant.

Ryan’s Bahamian roots trace back to 1648 when his forefather Timothy Pinder accompanied William Sayle, leader of the Eleutheran Adventurers, on his voyage to the Bahamas aboard the “William”. This vessel shipwrecked on the Devil’s Backbone Reef giving rise to the first Anglo settlement in the Bahamas at Preacher’s Cave in North Eleuthera.

Ryan's grandfather was the late Leo Pinder J.P. MBE of Spanish Wells who was a district leader in North Eleuthera for all of his adult life. Mr. Leo Pinder began his career as a senior monitor at the all age school in Harbour Island and a well known farmer and was intricately involved in the development of the fishing and farming industries in The Bahamas.

L. Ryan Pinder, JD, LLM, LEC, is a certified United States tax attorney licensed to practice law in both the United States of America and The Bahamas. Ryan Pinder attended Queens College and St. Andrews School in Nassau before attending high school in New York at The Stony Brook School. Mr. Pinder received his tertiary education at the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in International Finance and Marketing; a Masters of Business Administration in Finance; a Juris Doctor Law degree; and a LLM in International Taxation. After practicing law in the United States for several years, Mr. Pinder returned home to Nassau and attended the Eugene Dupuch School of Law where he graduated and received a Certificate in Legal Education and was admitted to the Bahamas Bar.

Ryan Pinder is a member of both the Leadership Council and National General Council of the Progressive Liberal Party, and is a serving Vice – Chairman of the Party. Mr. Pinder also serves as the Co-chairman of the PLP’s Committee on Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade.

Ryan Pinder is married to Melissa Calvin Pinder and they have two children, Olivia Rose Pinder (8 years old) and Leo Austin Pinder (3 years old).
